St. Odilo First Grade
Ms. Kim Schaefer
Kim Schaefer is excited to be teaching her fouth year at Saint Odilo She believes that the goal of education is to help each student reach their individual potentials. First grade is an important year that allows all students to grow and develop.

Students will continue to build on their reading skills from Kindergarten, build upon their number sense in math, learn about the world around us in social science, begin to ask questions and understand how things function in science, and become closer to God in religion.

"My favorite part of teaching first grade is seeing the students develop confidence in all subject areas. This is something that I am able to see throughout the school year, and it makes my job so rewarding. By the end of the school year, they are reading independantly and completing math problems that require more critical thinking. Seeing how much they develop in all of these skills throughout the year is very exciting!"

Kim graduated from Benedictine University with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. Also, she recently received her ESL endorsement through Concordia University. She implements the skills she acquired in these classes every day in her classroom.
