St. Odilo 3rd Grade
Third grade is a year of transition, which crosses the line from primary to intermediate grades. In addition to improving their reading and math skills, and
learning about the world around them. third graders become responsible for daily homework, long-term projects, and learning to solve problems on their own. Organization, responsibility, and getting along with others are an important part of this year of growth. By the end of the year, third graders aren't “little kids”
anymore!

Mrs. Dawn Dion

Dawn (Hurley) Dion is a proud St. Odilo alumnae! She received her BA in Liberal/Performing Arts from Barat College in Lake Forest. She received her Elementary Education certification, as well as her M.Ed. in Administration/Curriculum & Instruction from Loyola University. She has many years of classroom experience in both public and private
schools, but none so welcoming and rewarding as St. Odilo.

Mrs. Dion understands that children grow in environments where they feel safe and cherished. She tries to treat her students the way she would like her own child to be treated in school. “When children know that school is a place of warmth and acceptance, they are more confident and eager to learn.”
